HSK Level 1
HSK (Level 1) tests candidates’ daily Chinese application ability, which corresponds to Level 1 of “Chinese Proficiency Standards for International Students” and Level A1 of “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ( CEFR )” . Candidates who have passed HSK (Level 1) can understand and use some very simple Chinese words and sentences, meet specific communication needs, and have the ability to further learn Chinese.
- Subject of examination
HSK (Level 1) is mainly for candidates who study Chinese for one semester (half an academic year) at a pace of 2-3 class hours per week, and master 150 of the most commonly used words and related grammar knowledge.
- Exam content
HSK (Level 1) has a total of 40 questions, divided into two parts: listening and reading.

The whole test takes about 40 minutes (including 5 minutes for candidates to fill in their personal information).

The first part consists of 5 questions. Listen to each question twice. Each question is a phrase, a picture is provided on the test paper, and candidates judge right or wrong based on what they hear.
The second part consists of 5 questions. Listen to each question twice. Each question is a sentence, and there are 3 pictures on the test paper. Candidates choose the corresponding picture according to what they heard.
The third part consists of 5 questions. Listen to each question twice. Each question is a dialogue. Several pictures are provided on the test paper. Candidates choose the corresponding picture according to what they heard.
The fourth part consists of 5 questions. Listen to each question twice. Each question is one person saying a sentence, the second person asks a question and says 3 options based on this sentence, each question on the test paper has 3 options, and the examinee chooses the answer based on what he heard.
2 . read
The first part consists of 5 questions. Each question provides a picture and a word, and the test taker must judge whether it is consistent.
The second part consists of 5 questions. There are several pictures on the test paper, and each question provides a sentence. The examinee selects the corresponding picture according to the content of the sentence.
The third part consists of 5 questions. Provide 5 questions and 5 answers, candidates should find out the corresponding relationship.
The fourth part consists of 5 questions. Each question provides one sentence, and there is a blank in the sentence. Candidates should fill in the blank with words from the options provided.
The questions on the test paper are all in pinyin.
- Score report
The HSK (Level 1) score report provides three scores for listening, reading and total score. A total score of 120 is qualified.
