Job summary
Director is responsible for spearheading and overseeing the operations of the Directorate and ensuring efficiency and smooth workflow including providing nutrition research leadership to prevent and control all forms of malnutrition in Tanzania by abiding to National and International Policies, Regulations and Guidelines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i.To advice the Managing Director in all matters pertaining to nutrition, education and training;
ii.To administer and supervise the staff under the Directorate;
iii.To oversee preparation of plans of action and budgets for the Directorate;
iv.To advocate for review of curricula of schools and institutions of relevant sectors to incorporate food and nutrition concerns based on researched evidence;
v.To oversee innovation, research and development in food and nutrition;
vi.To oversee the management of a national food and nutrition reference library and database;
vii.To advocate for dissemination of research based food and nutrition information in collaboration with relevant Institutions and stakeholders;
viii.To oversee food and nutrition Public education and communication programmes by the Centre;
ix.To set and maintain standards of nutrition training programmes undertaken in the Nation;
x.To oversee capacity building of frontline workers and stakeholders on food and nutrition matters through pre and in-service training programs;
xi.To provide consultancy services in Nutrition Training; and
xii.To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by Managing Director
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- PhD and Masters in one of the following fields: Public Health, Nutrition, Family and Consumer Studies, Clinical Nutrition, Human Nutrition, Biology, Education (majoring in Biology) or related field with a minimum of an upper second class level at Bachelor degree in related fields
- at least ten (10) years’ research work experience of which two (2) years should be in a managerial position and at least ten (10) scientific peer reviewed publications (Scholarly work). Training in Management and Education will be an added advantage.
