The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), is an Agency under the Ministry of Works and Transport which is responsible for the Development and Maintenance of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. Apart from this, it is also responsible in conducting Axle Load Control Operations and Airport Construction.

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) for and on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania entered into a Contract for the Upgrading of Mianzini – Olemringaringa – Ngaramtoni Juu & Olemringaringa – Sambasha/Timbolo Roads to Bitumen Standard (18km). The duration of Construction Supervision and Defects Liability Period is 15 and 12 calendar months respectively.

The Regional Manager’s office TANROADS – Arusha, on behalf of the Chief Executive, TANROADS intends to recruit qualified and competent Staff to fill the following vacant posts on contracts bases within the Region.

Successful applicants must be ready to work for considerable lengths of time in Arusha Region within the project area if situation warrant.

1. POSITION TITTLE: CAD TECHNICIAN (1 POST)

Educational/Professional qualifications:-

He/She must have a certificate of CAD or equivalent from any recognized Learning Institution/colieges:

He/She must have a National Form IV/VI certificate:

He/She must have at least Six(6)years cumulative experience related to road/Bridge design and construction:

She/he must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road projects for upgrading to bituminous standard of similar magnitude and complexity in the last six(6)years.

Computer literate;

Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

2. POSITION TITTLE: ASSISTANT SURVEYOR (1 POST)

Educational/Professional qualifications: 

• He/She must have a Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent from any recognized Learning Institution/colieges:
• He/She must have a National Form IV/VI certificate:
• He/She must have at least two (2) years cumulative experience related to road/ Bridge design and construction:
• He/She must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road projects for upgrading to bituminous standard of similar magnitude and complexity in the last five (5) years.

A Computer literate:

Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

3.POSITION TITTLE: SECRETARY (Regional Manager’s Office)-1 Vacancy (RE-ADVERTISED)

POSITION RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Incharge of Accounts and Administration

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages the Regional Manager’s and Office’s diary
• Makes appointments for the Regional Manager
• Attend to telephone calls
• Attend to visitors
• Manage records movement
• Write minutes during meetings
• Undertake general secretarial and word processing duties for the Regional Manager
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be Tanzanian Citizen
• Must have Certificate of Secondary Education Examination
• Must have Certificate in Secretarial Duties or NTA 5 Certificate from a recognized Institution
• Not above 45 years of age
• Must be fluent in Kiswahili and English Languages in both written and spoken

4.POSITION TITTLE: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (Weighbridge)-2 Vacancies

POSITION RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Incharge of Accounts and Administration

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carrying out activities as described in The Road Traffic (Maximum Weight of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 which include the following.
• Collecting and banking all weighbridge charges (fees) according to weighbridge report form
• Seeking current USD exchange rates issued by Bank of Tanzania for case of imposing charges that are equivalent         to Tanzania Shilling;
• Filing and submitting all records timely;
• Maintaining assets register
• Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
• Reporting all matters to the Weighbridge Shift Incharge
• Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be Tanzanian Citizen
• Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Accounts from a recognized Institution
• Must be a computer literate (at least Advanced Certificate in Computer Applications)
• Not above 35 years of age
• Fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages

5. POSITION TITTLE: HIGHWAY ENGINEER (1 POST)

The Highway Engineer shall be fully responsible for the supervision of the construction in accordance with the provision of Contract. He/She shall supervise the construction works with due diligence and efficiency and in accordance with sound technical, administrative, financial and economic practices. He/She shall perform all duties associated with such tasks to ensure that only the best construction practices are followed and that the final product is in all respects equal to, or better than that specified, at the most economic costs and is carried out in full compliance with the governing specifications.

He/she must be a registered or Chartered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Postgraduate qualifications in Civil or Highway Engineering are added advantage. He/She must have a minimum of seven (7) years cumulative experience in Highway design/construction supervision. He/she must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) Construction projects of similar magnitude and complexity in the past seven(7)years in the position of Highway Engineer. Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

6. POSITION TITTLE: MATERIAL ENGINEER (1 POST)

The Soils/Materials Engineer shall be responsible for conducting and supervising the materials investigation with a view to achieving optimal design and construction strategy. The Soils/Materials Engineer shall carry out the pavement design and should be conversant with current practice in testing and pavement construction techniques.

He/She must be a registered professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification. A postgraduate qualification in geotechnical or pavement engineering is an added advantage. Preferably, He/She must demonstrate the following qualification: possess five (5) years of cumulative experience related to materials testing, soils investigation and pavement design and construction of roads and bridges: served in similar capacity in two (2) assignments of similar nature in the last 5 years. Additional years/assignments will be an added advantage. Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

7. POSITION TITTLE: TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEYOR (1 POST)

The Topographical Surveyor shall be fully responsible for conducting and supervising the survey team. He/She will be responsible for planning of the fieldwork, select known survey reference points, and determine the precise location of important features in the survey area. He/she shall be responsible for searching legal records, look for evidence of previous references survey points (geodetic reference points and national benchmarks) and analyse the data to determine the location of boundary lines and record the results of the survey, verify the accuracy of data, and prepare plans, maps and reports.

The Topographical Surveyor shall be a holder of Advance Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent. He/She must be registered as a Land Surveyor. He/she must have at least six(6)years of cumulative experience related to Land surveying activities. He/she must have served as a Topographical Surveyor on at least two (2) projects of similar magnitude and complexity within the last 6 years. Knowledge in computer applications and fluency in written and spoken English are mandatory.

8. POSITION TITTLE: OFFICE SECRETARY (1 POST)

Educational/Professional qualifications:-

• Must have a Diploma in secretarial Service or equivalent from any recognized Learning Institution/colieges:

• Work Experience: At least 3 years cumulative experience related to secretarial works:
• He/She must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road projects for upgrading to bituminous standard of similar magnitude and complexity in the last five (5)years.
