Approximately 504 young people in various regions in the country, have benefited from the concept of waiting to be employed while 304 young people have already graduated – Veta and entrepreneurship training through the ‘KCB 2 self-employment youth empowerment program initiated by the Bank.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam, the Bank’s Head of Marketing, Relations and Communications, Christina Manyenye, said the aim of launching the program was to open up opportunities for young people.

She noted that among the young people more than 356 women have benefited from in-class training for such practices in various Vocational Colleges (VETA).

In addition to the youths, she explained on October 18, this year another 200 are expected to start studies to benefit from the program, with the goal of reaching 4,000 young people in the country.

“Looking back since we started this program in 2016, 356 women have benefited from classroom and practical training,” she said.

She  explained that through the program, young people are taught entrepreneurship, how to keep financial records and their businesses, as well as marketing techniques.

“Among these are women who have benefited from a grant of five million shs each to develop their businesses,” said Christina.

In addition, she explained that the program is currently being implemented in various parts of the country including the islands of Zanzibar, Morogoro, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi.

Regarding the Bank’s contribution to the government, Christina made it clear that since its inception it has set aside about shs. 63 billion as capital.

“KCB Bank has had a good tax payment trend where per year it is estimated to pay shs. 13 billion,” She explained.
