Job Summary:
The project focal person/woman under the directives of the Area Coordinator, identifies problems, plans, coordinates, facilitates all project activities and reports periodically on the progress of the project and solve problems on sport. Critically maintains smooth working relations with beneficiaries, community leaders and other stakeholders.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual plans and facilitates the effective implementation of the planned activities of the project,
Coordinates the research activities mainly the data collection process and compile reports as required and if required initiates action researches,
Based on the identified six interventions/strategies of the project and the scope of the training programmes approved by the management, identifies specific learning needs, defines suitable set of training contents, delivers training programmes to students, parents, community leaders, community groups (women, youth), teachers, principals, supervisors and other relevant stakeholders and evaluates results,
Based on the identified nwomakkmm4 of beneficiaries, prepares learning materials, lesson plans other written documents, and practical exercises for different groups,
Organizes and facilitates trainings, dialogues and conversation sessions, meetings, monitoring and other activities immediately after the accomplishment of the activity,
In collaboration with the school principals and teachers, establishes/strengthens relevant clubs like Girls’ and Mini-media clubs, in the target schools
Facilitates the transmission of messages focusing on the negative effect of child marriage for advocacy through local radio in local language and assess the impacts/ results,
Facilitates guidance and counseling services for child marriage victims, youth clubs, SHGs, and the like,
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS:
The followings essential skills expected from the focal woman/person for the smooth achievement of the project goal.
Good general knowledge, strong will to understand each beneficiary’s issues, excellent oral and written expression/ communication, interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy and a very wide range of more specific behavioral skills,
Attention to the person, interaction, ability to transmit information, plus keen organizational sensitivity are required to understand quickly the beneficiaries’ needs,
Ability to understand the interest, problems, culture, language of the target groups, communities, institutions particularly schools to work with and proactive engagement in advancing workable strategies in building child marriage free communities,
Good skill in organizing and facilitating user friendly training sessions, meetings, dialogues and conversations,
Knowledge of TB, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Child Protection Policies, Gender Violence, negative effects of child/early marriage and other Harmful Traditional practices (HTPs),
Immediate Supervisor: Regional Coordinator
Mode of Employment: Contract for two years with possible extension based on performance
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination equivalent to:
B.A Degree in Development Studies, Gender and Development, Sociology, Social Psychology, Education, or related fields of studies graduated from a recognized University,
Minimum one year of relevant experience,
Experience in working with rural communities and confident in communicating in working area local language
Experience in NGOs is an asset.
Remuneration will be in line with the set procedures of the organizations which consider the experience and qualifications of the candidate (USD 2000-3000)
