PRESS RELEASE: PRESIDENT SAMIA APPROVES 23.3% SALARY INCREASE
The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan has approved a salary increase proposal including a minimum for 23.3% for public servants.

The proposals presented to the White House are a continuation of the session of Hon. The Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa recently did in Dodoma region and received expert information on salary increases.
The increase is based on Gross Domestic Product (GDP), domestic revenue expected to be collected in the year 2022/2023 by the state of the domestic economy and abroad.

As a result of the move in the financial year 2022/2023, the Government has planned to spend TShs 9.7 trillion to cover the payment of salaries of all employees in Central Government, Local Government, Institutions and Government Agencies.
Thus the salary budget for 2022/23 has an increase of Shs 1.59 trillion equivalent to l9.51% compared to the budget for the financial year 2021/22.

Meanwhile, President Samia has received proposals for a new Benefit regulation Pensions as Tanzania Confederation of Trade Unions (TUCTA)Â requested May 23, 2022.
Ms. President Samia has approved and directed the ministry responsible for social security continues to work with TUCTA and the Association of Employers in the country (ATE) to complete procedures to ensure the 25% lump sum payment rejected by stakeholders in 2018 is increased to 33%.
