The Inspector General of Police informs the selected youth who are to join the Tanzania Police Force that they are required to report to the Police Training School in Moshi from June 12, 2025, to June 14, 2025, for training.
The Tanzania Police Force is a government institution established with the aim of protecting the security of citizens and their property, maintaining peace, and enforcing the law in accordance with the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania.
This force was officially established in 1919 during colonial rule, known as the Tanganyika Police Force, and after independence in 1964, its name was changed to the Tanzania Police Force. The Police Force is responsible for the major role of ensuring internal security in the country by combating all forms of crime, including theft, cybercrime, drugs, and terrorism. It is also involved in the control of protests, enforcement of traffic laws, and the provision of emergency assistance in the event of accidents and disasters. The force is led by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) who is appointed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Currently, the Police Force has enhanced technology in its operations by using modern communication systems, data management, and investigative equipment. To ensure community engagement, the Police Force has established participatory security programs that include traditional security groups (sungusungu), crime awareness seminars, and hotlines for reporting emergencies quickly.
The Tanzania Police Force continues to be a key pillar in building a stable and secure nation, striving to improve its services through modern training and collaboration with international organizations. Overall, the main goal is to enhance peace, stability, and sustainable development of the country in partnership with the citizens.
