He said the government through the College of Sports Development – Malya, is establishing a special sports development center (Center of Sports Excellency), which will be available from the competition, and various other places in the country.

“Malya College of Sports Development has introduced diploma training, to expand the scope of its beneficiaries, has also opened a training center in Dar es Salaam and Ruvuma, to move services more to the citizens. It is our hope that, through this College, we will be able to reduce the gap of professionals, and sports teachers that we currently have.

In this year’s UMISSETA competition the Dar es Salaam region emerged as the first overall winner in all sports.

He also thanked the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Samia Hassan Suluhu, for his instructions on the removal of VAT, in the purchase and importation of artificial grass in the country, so that we can build and repair our sports infrastructure.

“My ministry is planning to start mobilizing various institutions and stakeholders, taking advantage of the opportunities offered to improve the infrastructure of their stadiums. I hope that, at this stage we are going to strengthen, and improve the sports infrastructure in the country.

He added that, Hon. The president, through the budget parliament that ended in June, 2021, has allowed 5% from sports betting, to join the sports development fund, administered by the Tanzania Sports Council (NSC), so that the money can be used for color development.

He said the launch of the fund will provide an opportunity to develop various sports in the country, at all levels, including the UMITASHUMTA and UMISETA competitions.

He assured the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa, Majaliwa implementation of various directives, to ensure his Ministry puts in place various strategies to develop sports in the country which he issued during the recent opening of UMITASHUMTA where he said some of the instructions have already been implemented.

Some of these guidelines include, evaluating Education Colleges, which used to teach sports and now do not teach; and the establishment of specialized sports schools in the regions.

. “Through the cooperation and unity of our Ministries, these and other directives will be dealt with expeditiously and professionally, in order to ensure that the sports industry is in the country.”

He added that the Government, through the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, will launch the National Strategic Plan for Sports Development in July, 2021. The strategic plan has provided guidance on how to run sports, based on the various guidelines provided in the 2020 Election Manifesto. -2025, where, among other things, the plan sets out a strategy for how to get into paid sports, to provide employment for young people using their talents, and earn their own income but also increase GDP through the sports industry. As the Minister in charge, I will ensure that we achieve those goals and work continues.

He also used the occasion to thank the new generation of artists who were providing entertainment throughout the period UMITASHUNTA and UMISSETA who have brought great enthusiasm and entertainment to the athletes and various stakeholders who participated in this year’s competition.

Among the new generation artists who provided entertainment at the installation of UMISSETA today July 2,2021 and captured the city of Mtwara and its environs include Maarifa, Kala Jermiah, G-Nako, Mr Blue, Shishi, Nandy and Sholo Mwamba.

“Thank you so much for your great cooperation, as well as the entertainment you have shown, and what you will continue to do here today, to provide entertainment to conclude these games. The people of Mtwara are certainly very happy and entertained. Sports is now a job, so by developing these sports, it is to prepare an important area that will provide employment to our youth through the talents they have ”

The Secretary General of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Dr. Hassan Abbasi said the Ministry of Information will continue to monitor policies and put in place effective strategies to promote the development of artists in the country.
